About Marcus Gillis

Marcus, a self-proclaimed Jack of all trades, master of none, received his BA in Journalism from UGA’s Grady College of Journalism in 2002. During his undergrad, he spent a year in Japan studying Japanese Language and Culture at Sophia University. After college, he moved to Thailand to work as a Divemaster and become a Dive Instructor. He later studied cinematography at Los Angeles Film School, and, is presently working on his MBA at the University of Colorado.

Marcus has played music over 30 years, and is still waiting for his overnight success. Though he is now on the downhill side of 40 he hasn’t give up yet. During Marcus’ less than illustrious life in music, his mediocre musical talent did not stop him from rocking the stand-up bass in his jr. high orchestra, contributing guitar and vocals to multiple unsuccessful punk and indie rock bands, and laying down many train wreck breaks on the 5-string banjo at local bluegrass jams. Currently, you can catch Marcus live on stage in the Denver/Boulder area performing with his band or solo as “The Dying Buffalo.”

He currently resides with his wife, daughter, and Vizsla in Banjo, CO.
